The Story of Stuff

Found this nice video and info site through greenormal. Basically Annie Leonard takes you through the processes behind modern consumerism pointing out how the system has propagated itself to its current status as an important part of life and how the system is unsustainable. The site also offers tips on how consumers can go from being a part of the problem to a part of the solution. Very nice, and impressive for making a point without resorting to alarmism.

Related to consumerism, the Sustainable Development Commission (UK) has had a report up for at least a week now suggeting that food (its production, transport, and waste) is a family's biggest source of greenhouse gases (GHG). The BBC article covering the report may be a quicker way to consume the information.
